Biography
Ukrainian. The son of a collective farmer. In 1955 he graduated from the Kazan Military School . He served as an officer in the Soviet Army.
In 1957 he joined the ranks of the CPSU .
Since 1958 - at the Komsomol job: instructor, second, first secretary of the Zhytomyr regional committee of the Komsomol of Ukraine.
In 1964 he graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv , in 1981 - from the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU . PhD in Philosophy.
Since 1969 - the second, first secretary of the Zhytomyr city party committee.
In 1973 he was elected secretary, and in 1982 - second secretary of the Zhytomyr regional committee of the CPSU.
From March 1987 to March 1990 - the first secretary of the Ternopil Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine .
A candidate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, Member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and the Ternopil Regional Council, was elected a delegate to the XXI Congress of the CPSU, XXVI and XXVII Congresses of the Communist Party of Ukraine, and the ХІХ All-Union Party Conference .
From March to June 1990 - Chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council of People's Deputies .
He was later transferred to work in Kiev as a secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine.
