Crater M. Anderson ( lat. M. Anderson ), in the catalog “Nomenclature for the Names of the Moon Relief” - Anderson Crater, should not be confused with Anderson Crater and Andersson Crater - a small impact crater in the southern hemisphere of the far side of the Moon . The name was given in honor of the American astronaut Michael Phillip Anderson (1959-2003) who died in the crash of the Columbia spacecraft and was approved by the International Astronomical Union in 2006.

Crater Description
Crater M. Anderson is located in the southeastern part of the giant Apollo crater. The other immediate neighbors of the crater are the Chaffee Crater in the west-north-west; Bormann crater in the northeast; Hasband Crater in the east-northeast; Ramon crater in the east; Chawla Crater in the east-southeast and L. Clark Crater in the southeast [1] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 16.9 km [2] , depth 2.7 km [3] .
Crater M. Anderson has a complex shape formed probably by the union of two craters. The northern part of the shaft of the smaller crater separates the more in-depth two-thirds of the bowl from the elevated northern third. The inner slope of the shaft is smooth.
