Biography and sports career
Born October 14, 1952 in Vladimir . In childhood, he studied at the Vladimir gymnastic school [2] .
Nikolai Grigoryevich Tolkachev became the first and permanent coach of Nikolai Andrianov in gymnastics. Nikolai Andrianov spent his childhood in the yards; he and four other children were raised by one mother who worked hard. Once, Nikolai Andrianov ended up in a gymnastic school and met Nikolai Tolkachev. At first, the relationship between them was not easy: a month after the start of classes, Andrianov tried to quit gymnastics and stopped going to training, but the first coach managed to return it. Moreover - Nikolai Tolkachev also helped him with the preparation of homework. The first performances of Andrianov did not bring him medals, and the athlete began to lose heart - but the first coach managed to do good psychological work and Andrianov did not give up gymnastics [3] . When Nikolay Andrianov fell ill, and at home his mother could not give him much care due to illness, the trainer's family took him to live with him. Nikolai Tolkachev also attended parent-teacher meetings at the school of his pupil [4] .
At the Olympics in Moscow, he was honored to pronounce the Olympic oath on behalf of the athletes.
In addition to Olympic medals, Nikolai Andrianov has many awards and other tournaments. World champion in all-around (1978) and twice on the rings (1974, 1978). Multiple European champion (1971-1975). The winner of the competition for the World Cup 1975-1977. Multiple champion of the USSR. In 2001, he was admitted to the Oklahoma City Gymnasium of Fame [5] . Until August 2008, Andrianov held the absolute record among men in the number of Olympic awards for his career (15), while the American swimmer Michael Phelps won his 16th medal.
After the end of his sports career, Nikolai Andrianov worked as a children's coach. In 1994-2002, he worked in Japan at the Mitsuo Tsukahara private gymnastics club, in 2002 he became the director of a sports school in Vladimir. [6]
He was married to the Soviet gymnast Lyubov Burde , two-time Olympic champion in the team championship (1968 and 1972).
He died on March 21, 2011 in Vladimir at the 59th year of his life after a long illness ( olivopontotserebellar atrophy [7] ) [8] [9] .
Farewell took place on March 24, 2011 in the City Palace of Culture of Vladimir. He was buried on the Alley of Honor of the Ulybyshevo cemetery next to Alexei Prokurorov and Yuri Ryazanov .
Memory
On October 14, 2011, in Vladimir, on the building of the Children's and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve in Gymnastics named after N. G. Tolkachev , a memorial plaque in memory of Nikolai Andrianov was inaugurated. On August 14, 2012, the Andrianovsky Square civil initiative was announced in Vladimir, the purpose of which is to name the square N. Andrianov and stop public transport near the house where the athlete lived. On July 5, 2013, the toponymic commission of the city of Vladimir agreed with the initiative and proposed assigning a garden located on ul. Bolshoi Nizhny Novgorod, in the area of house number 32, the name "Andrianovsky Square." On December 25, 2013, the Council of People’s Deputies of the city of Vladimir decided to assign territories within the boundaries of the land plot with cadastral number 33: 22: 032061: 292, located on ul. On March 15, 2014, the toponymic commission of the city administration of Vladimir decided to rename the stop “Sports School” (on the even side of Bolshaya Nizhny Novgorod Street) to the stop “Square of Nikolai Andrianov”. [ten]
On October 21, 2015, the results of the competition for the design of the monument to Nikolai Andrianov, which is planned to be installed in the Andrianovsky Square in Vladimir, were summed up. The public jury, which included the younger son and sister of N. E. Andrianov, unanimously chose the work of the sculptor Ilya Shanin .
On March 24, 2016, the Council of People's Deputies of the city of Vladimir decided to erect a monument to Nikolai Andrianov by Ilya Shanin.
On September 29, 2016, a monument to N. E. Andrianov by Ilya Shanin was erected in the Andrianovsky Square of the city of Vladimir. The sculpture was cast in the Smolensk region, and the granite pedestal was made in the Leningrad region. October 12, 2016 the monument was inaugurated. The opening of the monument to Nikolai Andrianov by Ilya Shanin was, according to the version of the online publication "ProVladimir", the "Discovery of 2016" in Vladimir.

- On March 21, 1979, the USSR Post issued a postal block from the series “XXII Summer Olympic Games of 1980 in Moscow.
