José Pedraza González ( Spanish: José Pedraza González ; born May 8, 1989 , Caguas , Puerto Rico ) is a Puerto Rican professional boxer , performing in the second light, light and first welterweight categories . Among the professionals, the world champion according to WBO (2018) in lightweight and according to IBF (2015-2017) in 2nd lightweight.

Biography

Born May 8, 1989 in the city of Caguas ( Puerto Rico ).

Amateur career

At the end of the 2008 season, he took part in the World Cup in Moscow and won the bronze medal, losing to the Russian boxer Albert Selimov in the semifinals - who eventually won the world cup gold.

In 2009, in the second featherweight category (up to 60 kg) he went to the finals of the World Cup in Milan where he won a silver medal, losing to Italian boxer Domenico Valentino in the fight for gold.

Professional career

The professional career of the boxer Jose Pedras began in February 2011.

On June 13, 2015, Jose Pedrasa fought with Russian boxer Andrei Klimov , defeating whom by unanimous decision, Jose won the vacant IBF world title [1] .

On August 25, 2018, Jose Pedrasa fought with the Mexican Raimundo Beltran , defeating whom by unanimous decision, Jose won the WBO lightweight world champion title.
