Hubert Stupner ( German: Hubert Stuppner ; born January 19, 1944 , Trodena , province of Bolzano , Italy ) is an Italian composer .

He graduated from the Conservatory in Bolzano , piano class with Nuncio Montanari and composition with Andrea Mascagni . Trained at the University of Padua as a musicologist, studying Brahms' songs, then in Darmstadt , where, in particular, he attended lectures by Stockhausen , Ligeti , Xenakis . In 1970 - 1981 Professor of Harmony, 1981 - 1997 Director of the Monteverdi Conservatory in Bolzano , from 1982 - 1996 chairman of the jury of the Busoni piano competition . In 1991 - 2000 Artistic Director of the Haydn Orchestra .
He is the author of the chamber opera Dance of Death ( German: Totentanz ; 1978 ), two piano concerts, four string quartets, a symphony ( 1985 ), chamber and vocal works.
