“Trachyini” ( ancient Greek Τραχίνιαι, Trachiniai ) is the tragedy of Sophocles . The time of its writing is unknown [1] .

Story
The tragedy takes place in the city of Trakhin , where Dejanira is waiting for news from her husband, Hercules, who is fighting in Evbey. Finally, she learns that Hercules took the city of Echalia and returns, but with him - the captive Iola, the passion for which he engulfed. To return the love of her husband, Dejnira resorts to a tool that was advised to her once by the centaur Ness . Seeing that Hercules is on the verge of death as a result, Dejanira commits suicide. In the finale of the play, the still living Hercules is carried away to the summit of Eta, in order to be burned there on a funeral pyre.
