Minahasians (Minahasas) - a group of peoples inhabiting the northeastern tip of Sulawesi Island ( Indonesia ). The peoples include: Tontemboan, Tonsaa, Tondano, Tombulu, Tonsavang, Pasan-Ratahan, Panosakan (Belang), Babontekha and Bow.
They speak the Minamas languages of the Philippine zone of the Austronesian languages ; the Manado-Malayan creolized version of the Malay language is also common [1] .
Religion - Christianity (over 90% of the population), Islam ; survivals of animistic beliefs are preserved. The main occupation is agriculture (corn, vegetables, fruits, rice, coconut palm , spices), developed fishing and livestock. The Minahasites have a neighboring community with distinct traces of tribal relations. The Minahasans are one of the most culturally developed peoples of Indonesia.
