Aerodrome Lievarvarde ( ICAO : EVGA ) is a military airfield located 7 km north of the city of the same name in Latvia .

History
In the period from June 1945 to March 1946, the 214th Assault Kerch Aviation Division was deployed and disbanded at the airfield, consisting of:
- The 190th ground attack aviation regiment on the Il-2 ,
- The 502nd ground attack aviation regiment on the Il-2 ,
- 622nd Assault Aviation Regiment on the IL-2 .
In its present form, the airfield was built in 1969 to house military aircraft of the USSR Air Force. In the period from 1980 to July 1, 1993, the 899th Orshansky Red Banner Order of Suvorov based a fighter aviation regiment named after F. Dzerzhinsky was based at the airfield, later reformed into a fighter-bomber aviation regiment.
The MiG-21 BIS , MiG-21 SM , MiG-21 SMT , MiG-27 D aircraft were located at the airfield.
After the collapse of the USSR, the regiment was redeployed to Russia, and the airfield was transferred to the Latvian Air Force. In the period from 2007 to 2014 was carried out large-scale reconstruction of the airfield. In 2009, the construction of a new administrative building and a modern runway and taxiways was completed .
Currently, NATO units are based at the airfield [1] .
