A professional journalist, a former Moscow correspondent for the newspapers Unita (1980-1990) and La Stampa (1990-2000).
From 1967 to 1968, the vice president of the student association of the Italian language ( Italian: Unione goliardica Italiana ), then the head of the Federation of Young Communists of Italy ( Italian: Federazione Giovanile Comunista Italiana ). He is the author of numerous books about the Soviet Union and Russia, which combine elements of historical analysis, chronicle and reporting . His first book, Operation Tehran ( Italian: Operazione Teheran ), is about an unsuccessful attempt by the Delta squad to free American hostages at the Tehran embassy. Since 2001, Giulietto Chiesa has been working on topics of globalization , both economic and political, as well as military, focusing on the role of the media . He has published many reviews in Italian and other languages. In Russia, two of his studies on the relations between the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) were published.

In 2001, Chiesa wrote the book “The Big Eight - Genoa ” (“G8-Genova”) about dramatic events during the meeting of the Big Eight in 2001 in Genoa. Chiesa is the president of the MegaChip association and, together with Elio Veltri , Antonello Falomi and Diego Novelli, is a member of the Presidium of the Association of Builders of a Well-Being Society National Association, whose president is Akille Okketto .
In 2003, Chiesa joined the political alliance of Antonio Di Pietro and Achille Okketto in connection with the 2004 European elections.
