Accuracy of weapons battle

High accuracy , but low accuracy
High accuracy , but low accuracy

Accuracy of the battle of weapons , accuracy of shooting - the property of weapons to group the points of incidence (rupture) of shells ( missiles , bullets and others) in a certain limited area.

One of the main indicators of the quality of weapons [1] . The definition of the “accuracy of weapons battle” can be formulated in different ways, depending on the scope and method of application. This concept is widely used in small arms , aviation , artillery and missile weapons . Also used to describe the properties of ammunition .

Difference of Concepts

In small arms, accuracy of fire is the ability of a weapon to hit targets in single and automatic shooting , the main criterion being not the accuracy of the weapon , but the cumulative distance between each subsequent hit on the target . The lower it is, the higher the accuracy of firing . It is worth considering that this assessment is especially objective for easel weapons , but it is not completely reliable when firing a shooter , so it can only be estimated on average. In order to eliminate the human factor, they use firing from a machine tool - a massive holder that does not allow weapons to move during the shot.

In aviation and artillery, accuracy of fire is a definition that is cumulative and similar to that applicable to small arms , but also takes into account the properties of ammunition .

In throwing weapons, accuracy of fire is the ability of throwing weapons to group hit points when firing at the same scope settings.

In the properties of ammunition, accuracy of fire is the ability to hit a selected area of a range with one or a group of ammunition with the presence of various methods of destruction: fragments , shrapnel , cluster bombs, and so on. With this method, the main evaluation criterion is the dispersion distance of the shells and their individual parts relative to the point of impact and their equidistance from it, as well as the density of the coating with the striking elements of the test perimeter.

Weapon Quality

Accuracy of shooting is a dual term. On the one hand, under the assumption that the weapon works perfectly, this is an indicator of the quality of the shooter's work [2] . Even with a shot down a good shooter will demonstrate excellent accuracy. On the other hand, this characterizes the quality of the weapon itself. The ability of a weapon to group the points of impact of bullets, shells, missiles, and the like at one point when firing at the same scope settings - this is accuracy. The more closely the results lie to the center, the higher the accuracy of fire.

Weapons that do not have accuracy of firing from a machine tool, in principle, cannot be shot. That is, a sniper rifle with good accuracy that does not fall into a 5 cm circle with 100 m can be adjusted , and a 12-caliber hunting rifle with a round bullet in a similar situation will never confidently hit a target.
