History
The future lead singer of the group, Sergey Zhukov, graduated from school in Dimitrovgrad in the Ulyanovsk Region in 1993 and moved to Samara to enter the Samara Academy of Culture and Arts . In June 1993, he began working on the radio " Europe plus Samara" and led the dance music program "Hit-hour". There, on the radio in 1993, he met Alexei Potekhin, with whom they created the group "Uncle Ray and Company" - in honor of the lead singer Ray Slangard of group 2 Unlimited , whose music combined elements of the Eurodance and techno style. In December 1994, Zhukov and Potekhin moved to Tolyatti, where they tried to record songs in the studio, and went to the Samara radio stations. May 1, 1995 they moved to Moscow.
At the end of 1995, the musicians handed over a cassette with several songs to the radio “ Maximum ” and signed: “This music will force you to raise your hands up.” The group did not yet have a new name. A week later, the cassette fell into the hands of the presenters Olga Maximova and Konstantin Mikhailov. They put the song “Good morning” in their show and announced: “Young group“ Hands up! ”” Since then this name has been assigned to the group [3] .
“Hands up!” Recorded the song “Baby”, which became popular, and then another hit - the song “Student”. Both compositions were very successful. From that moment, the group began touring around the country and abroad.
For recording women's parties, session vocalist Elizaveta Rodnyanskaya, a member of the Melissa group, was found [4] . Popular songs with her participation are “Student”, “Move your body”, “ Song ” and others.
A few months later, the first album entitled “Breathe Evenly” was ready. The songs "Kid" and "Student" were included in the top ten of the hit parade of " Russian Radio " " Russian Hill ". In the spring and summer of 1997, video clips were shot for these songs.
The success of the group continued at the concert venues: in the spring of 1997, they began performing at the MAXIDANCE -2 dance events at the Moscow Youth Palace and the international non-stop music festival NON-STOP 97 in Sokolniki Park. On August 30, 1997, the group took part in the international festival “ Dancing City 97 ” at the Gorky Central Park of Music and Culture in Moscow. As a dance accompaniment, the Street Jazz band participated in the concerts.
In the video for the song "He Kisses You" in the role of one of the main characters, it was decided to remove the travesty artist Anatoly Evdokimov . It was an unusual move, designed for shock and surprise, which was fully justified. Sergey Zhukov recalled:
I sincerely admit that after watching the video I said “Yes!” Because it is a fierce blow to the stereotypes that have developed in people: from work colleagues to fans.

In 1999, the album No Brakes was released. According to Zhukov, the album was sold in a print run of 12,000,000 copies, of which 8 were pirated. The musicians themselves received $ 700 for it. All other money from sales was taken by Malikov [3] .
In the late 1990s, the team created its own music label “The Dancing Men” (“B-Funky Productions”), which immediately began to release modern pop groups [5] : “ Turbomoda ”, “Boys”, “ Revolvers ” , " Shark, " black singer Murphy.
In 2000, the German group " ATS " recorded a cover for the song " Song " from the album "Make it louder!". A song called " Around the World (La La La) " was featured in the Top 30 of the American charts and Top 20 of English. According to Zhukov, royalties from the song were more than they received in the previous 8 years of work [3] .
In August 2006, the group ceased to exist. As a reason, Sergei Zhukov cites the emergence of new groups with which it has become harder to compete. In addition, the musicians were tired of each other and musical disagreements began between them. The last concert was planned at the Olimpiysky , entitled End of the Legend. Farewell concert “Hands Up!” ”, But the musicians did not find the required amount (more than $ 500,000) needed for the organization.
Sergey Zhukov released solo works for several years, including the album “In Search of Tenderness” and several clips for songs from him. But since 2008, Zhukov began to use the name of a nonexistent group in solo work [6] . In addition, he produced the singer Shark (Oksana Pochep) , “Opium Project”, “ Factor 2 ”, the group “Tale” and the KNU project KUKLA
In February 2008, the first book by Sergei Zhukov, Zvezdopad, was co-authored with Maxim Petrenchuk, a journalist and network writer from St. Petersburg , published at AST .
In the spring of 2008, Potekhin began work on his new project, Track & Blues. It included DMC BluezZ and Vladimir Luchnikov, formerly the vocalist of the bands "Boys" and "Turbomoda". In March 2008, Alexey Potekhin released his collection of dance music “Potekhin Style. Disco 3 ", which collected the compositions of young groups and hits" Demo "," Track "," Jakarta "," Planck "," Kra $$ avchik ", SuperboyZ and others.
On October 22, 2010, on Channel One, Andrei Malakhov ’s program “ Let They Speak ” hosted the group’s performance, in which it participated in its entirety for the first time in 5 years.
In October 2012, the group “Hands Up!” Released the album “ Open the door for me ”. The album included 14 compositions, of which nine were presented for the first time, and the rest were previously performed by the collective at concerts and entered the radio rotation (“Mom”, “I Will Be With You”, “Girl from the Past”, “See You in Dreams”, "Say why?"). Three videos were shot in support of the album.
In September 2013, the band released the official single “Wings” on iTunes , recorded in collaboration with Bahh Tee.
On October 30, 2014, a new song was released with the former wards of Sergei Zhukov - “ Factor-2 ” and the rising pop star Timur Vagapov - “Be silent.”
