In flagrante delicto ( lat. “In flaming crime”) is a legal term meaning that the offender was caught while committing the crime , a truncated form is also used - in flagrante . The Russian equivalent is to catch red-handed .
The phrase can also be used as a euphemism for a couple caught during intercourse [1] [2] .
