Discoveries
- Land of Alexander I - the largest island of Antarctica .
- The island of Peter I is an uninhabited island in the Antarctic Pacific .
- German physicist Thomas Johann Seebeck discovered that temperature differences between two dissimilar conductors can produce electricity ( the Seebeck effect , published in 1822). It was the first thermocouple in the world [1] .
Publications
- The article " On some new electromagnetic motions and the theory of magnetism " by the English physicist and chemist Michael Faraday described the world's first electric motor .
- The first volume is Systema mycologicum ( Russian Mycological System ) by the Swedish mycologist Elias Frisom .
- " Flora Scotica " is the work of the English systematic botanist William Hooker , in which the natural method of organizing British plants was given alongside the artificial one.
- Beginning of the publication of Illustrations of British Ornithology by British ornithologist and botanist John Selby - the first collection of bird illustrations, where they were depicted in their actual size.
- The work " Algebraic analysis " of the French mathematician and mechanic Louis Cauchy .
