Zlenko, Alexey Nikolaevich

Alexei Nikolaevich Zlenko (12/02/1914 -?) - Soviet aircraft designer, specialist in the field of aircraft engine building. 1960 Lenin Prize laureate for participating in the development and creation of the AI-20 engine of the Il-18 passenger aircraft. [1] [2]

Biography

Born in Krasnopole, Krasnopolsky district, Sumy region . [3]

In 1941 he graduated from Kharkov Aviation Institute .

In 1941-1945 he served in the Red Army. [4] He was an assistant to the chief of artillery supply of 411 rifle divisions. [5] In 1942 he was captured, was held in the Slobozia camp. [3] After being released from captivity, he served again as a shooter of the 3rd officer assault battalion of the 481st rifle regiment of the 320th rifle division, was wounded and shell-shocked. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star (1945) for actions during the assault and retention in the city of Buda. [6] . In 1985 he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree . [7]

Since 1946 - Design Engineer, Lead Designer, Head of the Compressors Department of the Design Bureau of the Experimental Design Bureau No. 178 (since 1967, the Zaporizhzhya Engineering Design Bureau "Progress" ). [8] In 1958-1985, head of the design bureau. [9]

Zlenko participated in the development of the TC-12 turbostarter for the NK-12 turboprop engine. [11] In the Zlenko brigade, Fyodor Muravchenko , Viktor Chuyko began their career at the ZMKB. Zlenko participated in the investigation of the causes of the crash of the IL-18 aircraft . [2]
