The prohibition field of the Didle People's Labor Party became a member of the Democratic Party. In 1991 he was elected a member of the Great National Assembly from Diyarbakir. On December 12, 1993, he was elected its chairman.

On March 2, 1994, the Turkish parliament deprived Didle of immunity and was arrested on the same day. On December 8, 1994, Didle Khatip, Leyla Zana , Orhan Dogan and Selim Sadak were sentenced to 15 years in prison for membership in a terrorist organization ( Kurdistan Workers Party ). Amnesty International recognized those convicted as prisoners of conscience. [1]

On June 9, 2004, all four convicts were released after pressure exerted by the European Union on Turkey in connection with their arrest. However, Didl was forbidden to engage in political activities.

In 2007, Dejle was sentenced to 20 months in prison for an interview given to the news agency ANKA news agency , in which he expressed his opinion on the Turkish-Kurdish conflict. His sentence was criticized, as Didle spoke out in favor of a peaceful solution to the conflict.

In April 2010, he was again arrested in connection with an investigation into the activities of the Union of Communities of Kurdistan .

During the June 2011 parliamentary elections, Didjle ran for representative from silt Diyarbakir. He scored the majority of votes, but his result was canceled. The reason for this was his conviction “for membership in a terrorist organization” (the terrorist organization was the Worker Party of Kurdistan ) in 1994 [2] [3] .

Ryza Türmen , representative of the European Court of Human Rights, condemned this decision [4] [5] .
