The composition of the men's tournament was significantly weakened: the strongest pentathletes - Denis Stoikov, Alexey Turkin and Andrei Moiseev - went to the 1st stage of the World Cup in Mexico. The 2000 Olympic champion Dmitry Svatkovsky will not play at the Russian Cup. He was recovering from another injury of the Achilles and was busy organizing the World Cup final to be held in August in the village of Severny.
