Getting
- Sodium nonahydridorenate (VII) is added to a saturated barium hydroxide solution :
- Potassium sulfate is added to the precipitate, the excess of which is precipitated with methanol , and then the final product is precipitated with ethanol :
- When potassium perrhenate is reduced with potassium in 1,2-diaminoethane .
Physical Properties
Potassium nonhydridorenate (VII) forms colorless (white) diamagnetic crystals of hexagonal syngony , space group P 6 2m , cell parameters a = 0.9607 nm, c = 0.5508 nm, Z = 3.
It is soluble in water, solutions are stabilized by alkalis. Slightly soluble in methanol, insoluble in ethanol.
It decomposes in air to form perrenate and carbonate.
