Biography
Daido is half French. Her mother, Claire, is a literary agent, and in her free time, a poetess, a Frenchwoman [3] , and father William Armstrong is a book publisher, an Irishman. [4] [5] Parents gave her the name Florian at baptism, but in the family circle they called Daido. By religion, Daido is a Catholic . From the age of six, she attended the Guildhall School of Music in London . By ten years old, she already owned the piano , violin and recorder . By the way, Florian, by her own admission, once stolen from school. [6]
Daido began her career as a guest singer in Faithless , in which her brother Rollo Armstrong is involved. Two Faithless albums recorded with Daido, Reverence and Sunday 8pm , went platinum . The album No Angel became the UK's best-selling album in 2001 . Her second album, Life for Rent , was released in late 2003 .
Daido's career began in 1997 , when on cassettes her first album, The Highbury Fields , was recorded under a contract with Clive Davis from Arista Record . In April 1997, the soundtrack for the movie “ Watch Out, The Doors Are Closing ” was recorded with her song “Thank You”. This song was later used by the American company HBO in the film If Walls Could Talk 2 .
In 1999, the song “Here with Me” got into the intro to the television series “ Aliens City ”. In June of that year, her first CD was released - No Angel , which was spotted by the London press.
World fame came to Daido after in 2000, the American rapper Eminem used the verse of her song “Thank You” from the album No Angel for his song “ Stan ”. Eminem's album The Marshall Mathers LP , and the song "Stan" in particular, were actively discussed by the world press, and Daido simply could not go unnoticed. Moreover, she participated in the video for this song, playing the role of Stan's girlfriend. In an interview with MTV, Daido talked about collaboration:
Once I received this letter of my dreams. They wrote: “We liked your album, and we took one of the songs for the sample. We hope you don’t be offended and you will like this song. ” Later they sent me this song, and when I listened to it at the hotel, I thought: “This is a wonderful song.”
Daido took part in the Sting tour of the UK . The second single , Thank You, is coming out. By July 2001, No Angel became four times platinum . In 2001, Daido was nominated for the Brit Awards as one of the best British singers.
In August 2001, completing her North American tour, Daido began work on her new album, Life for Rent . She wrote the song “Life for Rent” after her father’s temporary recovery. British critics called it the brightest comeback of 2003 . The singer co-wrote the new disc with her brother Rollo, a Faithless member, and with Rick Knowles , who worked with Madonna . "White Flag" is the first single of the album. Daido believes that it is the first song that represents the entire album.
March 4, 2013 the release of the fourth studio album Girl Who Got Away [7] [8] .
Married, her husband is Roen Gavin. In July 2011, they had a son, Stanley [9] .

Some facts
- Daido's song “Here with Me” from No Angel was included in the soundtrack for the film “ Real Love ”.
- Daido studied at the university as a lawyer, but never graduated, because she was invited to tour with Faithless.
- The right wing of the British National Party cited the lines of the songs “White Flag” and “This Land Is Mine” on its website, attributing them to a nationalistic coloring (superiority of people with white skin). Subsequently, they were forced to abandon this practice, because Daido did not want to attribute herself to any of the public associations.
