Golden pagre , or yellowfin pagre , or common pagre [1] ( lat. Pagrus pagrus ) is a species of ray-finned fish from the pair of sparrows that lives in the subtropical and tropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea .

The maximum body length is 91 cm, and the mass is 7.7 kg, the usual sizes are 30–35 cm [2] . In the dorsal fin, 12–13 hard and 9–11 soft rays, in the anal fin, 3 hard and 7–9 soft rays. In the lateral line 50-59 scales .
Golden pagre has commercial value in both the East and West Atlantic. The largest quantities are mined off the coast of North West Africa and off the coast of Brazil and Argentina. Accumulations of gout are confined, as a rule, to shallow depths, of the order of 30-50 m.
