The 2006 European Marathon Cup was held on 12 (women) and 13 August (men) as part of the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg , Sweden . Participants played a team prize in competitions for men and women. Medals in the individual championship were awarded as part of the European Championship.

Each country could put up to 6 people in each of the two races. Winners were determined by the sum of the results of the 3 best participants.
