He graduated from the Paris Conservatory , where he was one of the favorite students of Alfons Hasselmans . Since 1913 he played in the orchestra of the Champs Elysees Theater, since 1920 in the Lamoureux Orchestra , since 1938 in the Colonnade Orchestra ; at the same time since 1917 , Jamet gave concerts as a soloist, and also played a lot as part of the Paris Instrumental Quintet (in 1924 - 1958 , after 1945 the group was called the Quintet of Pierre Jame). In 1948 - 1963 Jamet was a professor at the Paris Conservatory, in 1962 he was one of the founders and the first president of the International Association of Harpers.
