The son of violinist Nathan Kozyrev (1929-1994) and film director Leah Kozyreva (1933-2015). Nephew of Valentine Gaft ^[1] .

He served in the army in the Kurgan region near the city of Shadrinsk , where he once received 7 days of guard duty ^[2] .

He graduated from the Sverdlovsk State Medical Institute , Faculty of Treatment and Prevention ( 1992 ), in 1992-1994 he studied in the USA , at Pomona College ( English Pomona College ), Clermont, California (department of mass media).

He organized his first radio program, “Music of Bolshevik Children and Grandmothers,” in 1992 in Los Angeles at the student radio station KSPC 88.7 FM. In 1993-1994, on the Track radio in Yekaterinburg, he made the Voice of Conscience program (together with Mikhail Simakov ).

He came to the capital’s radio business in 1994 as the program director of Maximum radio , from where he was dismissed in July 1998 . From February 1998 to December 2000 he hosted the Twilight weekly anti-drug program on NTV with the participation of famous musicians ^{[3] [4]} . Due to the workload on radio, Kozyrev refused the role of the presenter in this program, and after the capture of NTV in 2001, the program was transformed into “To” with Jacob Brand and Sergei Galanin ^[5] .

The peak of Mikhail’s career on radio came in 1996-2003, when mobile communications and the Internet were available only to individual corporate clients and the radio was a significant communicator for young people. The rapid penetration of communications and the Internet pushed the analogue radio radio deep into the background, turning it into a background in a car trip, while separate Internet radio stations in the era of mp3 were not destined to gather a large audience.

He was the author of the idea of ​​the Maxidrom rock festival. In 1998, he became the general producer of LNC (later renamed to News Media Radio Group ) and the new radio station Our Radio , which over time became the country's most popular rock radio station.

In 2000, he realized his long-conceived project - the Ultra radio station, which, however, was closed by several investors due to unprofitability due to investor pressure (after a while the radio station was reopened in the VHF, the so-called “lower” or “Soviet” range, at a frequency of 70.19 MHz). Ultra is the conductor of American heavy music, although initially few Russian artists sounded in the project. In the same year, the concert “ Brother 2 . We live in the Olympic. " The televersion took place on December 10, 2000 on the RTR channel.

Having moved to work at Logovaz , Kozyrev implemented the Our Radio project (101.7 MHz in Moscow, 104 MHz in St. Petersburg, different frequencies in other cities), which became the core of Kozyrev’s promotion of alternative and rock culture ^[6] . Kozyrev formed a whole system, which included radio, publishers, a festival and a group of stars of an alternative scene, somehow promoted by the efforts of Kozyrev. In 2004, at the Ultra frequency of 100.5 MHz, he opened the Best FM radio station, the format of which is based on the western "golden hits" of the 1960-1990s.

He was the organizer of the rock invasion rock festivals (held annually since 1999 , except 2003 and 2007 ), the radio marathon “Everything is in our hands” (to help victims of the 1999 terrorist attacks ) and the television marathon “SOS suffering” (to help the victims of the 2004 Beslan terrorist attack ^[7] ), the host of Chart Dozen , the weekly hit parade of Our Radio. He participated in the creation of the New Year's programs “ Blue Light ” on the REN TV channel and “First Night with Oleg Menshikov ” on NTV ^[8] . In 2001-2003, he was one of the constant radio experts in the Earth-Air program, which aired first on TV-6 , and later on its heir to TVS ^[9] .

He was fired from his post as general producer of News Media Radio Group, Our Radio and Best FM Radio on February 1, 2005 ^[10] . According to official figures, the negative dynamics of the financial indicators of the radio station and Kozyrev’s public employment with other activities, which irritated the American owners of the company, led to the resignation.

In the fall of 2005, he became the head of the dubbing of the 1993 cartoon “The Nightmare Before Christmas, ” which was shown on TNT . Alexei Kortnev , Nikolay Fomenko , Tutta Larsen , Sergey Mazaev , Garik Sukachev and many others participated in scoring and performing songs on Kozyrev’s verses ^[11] .

He plays himself in the play " Radio Day ", as well as in the film of the same name . He played the same role in the film " Election Day ", of which he is a producer.

September 10, 2008 was appointed general producer of the First alternative music television channel A-One ^[15] . A few days after this event, Mikhail was severely beaten on the street by unidentified people who stole things from him. He led the Mishanina program on the TV channel.

Dismissed from the post of general producer of A-One in April 2009 ^[16] .

On August 4, 2009, he was hospitalized briefly with a diagnosis of thrombophlebitis ^[17] .

Since 2010, she has been conducting the author’s program “New Year with Mikhail Kozyrev” on the Rain TV channel, and is also a producer of the night air of this channel. July 25, 2011 the program "New Year with Mikhail Kozyrev" was released for the last time under this name. From August 29, 2011 to December 14, 2012, he has been conducting the LIVE program, where the format remains the same - a live performance and an interesting guest. From September 3, 2012 the program is reduced to 28 minutes, there is only a live performance of musical groups. For inter-program blocks, he selects music videos, previously they came out with a block called “Music on the Rain”.

From September 3, 2012 to September 5, 2017, the Kozyrev Online program was launched on Dozhd, where the main thing is live communication of the channel’s host with the audience and live discussion of the main topic of the day. Since September 19, 2015 on the same TV channel, Mikhail Kozyrev has been conducting an interview program "How it all began", which guests are figures of cinema, television and music, popular in the 1990s ^[18] .
