Pegoma ( French: Pégomas ) is a city and commune in southeastern France , west of Nice , in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region , the Alpes-Maritimes department , Grasse district , the canton of Mandelieu-la-Napoule [1] . Until 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of South Grasse (Grasse County).

Geographical position
The Pegoma Commune is located in the Xian River Valley, a few kilometers northwest of Cannes, on the D9 highway to Grasse. Neighboring communities are: in the north the city of Grasse, in the northeast - Muan Sartoux , in the southeast - La Roquett-sur-Sian , in the south - Mandelieu-la-Napoule , in the west - Tanneron , in the northwest - Oribo sur Sian .
Pegoma is located on the so-called “ Route of Mimosas” ( La Route du Mimosa ), which stretches 130 kilometers along the French Riviera , from Bormes-les-Mimosas and through Raiol-Canadelles-sur-Mer , Saint-Maxim , Saint-Raphael , Mandelieu-la-Napoule , Tanneron and Pegoma on Grass. In the period from January to mid-March, mimosas brought to the south of France from Australia are covered with gold plated of their flowers [5] .

Economics
In 2010, out of 4,451 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years old), 3,566 were economically active , 885 inactive (80.1% activity indicator, 73.9% in 1999). 3250 of 3566 active able-bodied residents worked (1663 men and 1587 women), 316 were unemployed (157 men and 159 women). Among 885 able-bodied inactive citizens, 299 were pupils or students , 298 were pensioners , and another 288 were inactive for other reasons [8] [9] .
