Vsevolod Alexandrovich Izmail ( 1885 - 1973 ) - Soviet scientist, organic chemist; Doctor of Chemical Sciences (1938), Professor (1920); Honored Scientist of the RSFSR (1947). His main works are devoted to the chemistry of coloring substances and the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. He is the author of the textbook Exercises on the Course of Organic Chemistry. [one]

Biography
Born on November 27 ( December 9 according to a new style) in 1885 in the city of Vilna of the Russian Empire.
In 1911 he graduated from the Saxon Higher Technical School in Dresden , then in 1917 - St. Petersburg University .
Since 1917 he lived and worked in Moscow. In 1917-1936 he worked in the Russian-Paint Joint-Stock Company (since 1918 - the Central Laboratory of Aniltrest, since 1928 - the Central Scientific Experimental Laboratory of Aniltrest, since 1931 - the Research Institute of Intermediates and Dyes named after K. E. Voroshilov) . At the same time he was a professor at the 2nd Moscow State University (1920-1930) and the Moscow State Industrial and Pedagogical Institute. K. Liebknecht (1925-1941). In 1939, he proposed the classification of chromophore groups based on electronic structure. [2]
Since 1941 he was evacuated in Tomsk, working 1941-1943 as a professor at Tomsk University. He was chairman of the chemical commission at the academic council of the university, taught a course in organic chemistry and a number of special courses. [3] Returning to Moscow, since 1944 he was a professor at the Moscow City Pedagogical Institute named after V.P. Potemkin . In 1960, this university became part of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. V.I. Lenin , whose professor Izmail was until the end of his life.
He lived in Moscow on Chistoprudny Boulevard, 1a. He died on September 17, 1973 in Moscow.
