History

Kola Avenue almost completely coincides with the former Kola Highway, which connected Murmansk with Kola . Before the war, it passed through the territory of Murmansk from the bed of the Varnichniy stream to the ski base (the building has not been preserved to this day). The highway was built up with two-story houses made of wooden beams. In October 1974, the Kola Highway was renamed Kola Avenue [1] . In the same month, a section from Varnichny Stream to the formed area near the Molodezhny store was assigned to Lenin Avenue. Kola Avenue began to be actively built up with nine-story panel houses and turned into the main road artery not only of the Pervomaisky district, which literally “grew” along the avenue for 30 years, but of the whole of Murmansk.

Transport

Kola Avenue - the main artery of the city. It is open around the clock for heavy vehicles. Almost along the entire length of the avenue, trolleybus wires are laid. Most of the Murmansk suburban buses run along Kola Avenue. There are 4 trolleybus (No. 2, No. 4, No. 6, No. 10) and 7 bus (No. 5, No. 10, No. 18, No. 19, No. 27, No. 33) routes running along the avenue.
