History
After the tremendous success of The Fugees in 1996-1997. the members of the group were divided regarding its future direction and started solo projects, the most successful of which was the album Loreen Hill The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill , on which she wrote and produced all the tracks almost single-handedly. According to critics, this disc blurred the boundaries between areas such as rap , soul and reggae . Modern “lotions” were combined in it with the general vintage mood and numerous references to the music of the 1960s.
Thanks to this album, in 1999, Loreen became the first performer in the history of Grammy nominated simultaneously for ten categories and received five awards in one ceremony. The album was honored to be the first neo-soul album to receive a Grammy award as the best album of the year. The track “Doo Wop (That Thing)”, written on a highly social topic, made its debut in the first place in the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in hip-hop history. The following year, she recorded with such legends as Carlos Santana ("Supernatural") and Aretha Franklin ("A Rose Is Still a Rose"). Three years later, her confession concert album MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 ".
It is safe to say that one of the main impetus for a great career and fame was her shooting in the film " Sister, Act 2 " (1993), where she played the role of schoolgirl Rita Watson, dreaming of only one thing - to become a singer.
