The Moscow Spartak and CSKA met for the second time in the final in the history of the USSR Cups. In the final of the USSR Cup in 1948, the then “TsDKA” defeated the red and white with a score of 3: 0 [1] .
The start of the match was marked by the onslaught of the players of “CSKA”, which however did not lead to any result. In particular, 4 corner kicks by defender Sergei Kolotovkin were extremely unsuccessful. And on the 22nd minute, Vladimir Beschastnykh , who received Igor Ledyakhov's accurate pass in the penalty area, sent the ball down to the far corner and put Spartak in front. And 13 minutes later, CSKA goalkeeper Dmitry Kharin made a mistake, throwing the ball not to his own, but to Spartak. What Ledyakhov took advantage of, giving a pass to Beschastnykh, who was in the penalty area. From hitting the head of the last ball hit the crossbar, and then crossed the goal line.
At the 45th minute, Spartak defender Dmitry Khlestov shot down Kolotovkin, after which a penalty was awarded to the red-white goal. CSKA players had a hitch with the choice of a penalty kick, as a result of which goalkeeper Harin took on this role. However, he hit hard with a short run, sent the ball over the crossbar. After this episode, CSKA did not have a chance to turn the tide of the meeting, and Spartak won the USSR-CIS Cup [2] .
