History

Two Brussels brewers, Bernard Lebeck and Yves De Baix, opened their micro brewery in St. Petersburg in 2003 . Subsequently, having increased sales of their beer, in 2008 they moved production to Brussels. Lebec and De Bae brewed beer in the traditional Belgian manner: unfiltered , unpasteurized and without additives.

They decided to name one of the beers Taras Boulba, in honor of the story of the same name by Nikolai Gogol . In it, the main character Taras Bulba, together with his two sons, is fighting against Poland . One of them has an affair with a polka . Taras, learning about this, kills his son. In the brewery, they found an analogy in their homeland for the confrontation between Ukrainians and Poles - in the struggle of the Flemings and Walloons [1] . The beer label depicts an angry man with a barrel of beer over his head, who swung at his son. The signature in the Brussels dialect is as follows: “Behold, Taras Bulba is incredibly angry with his son, who married a walloon!”

Interesting Facts
