Game career
Andy Mug was selected in the seventh round of the 1980 draft by the Edmonton Oilers club. Together with Edmonton, Mug won three Stanley Cups: in 1984, 1985 and 1987. On March 8, 1988, Edmonton traded Mug at Boston Bruins for striker Jeff Kurtnoll , goalkeeper Bill Renford and a second-round pick in the 1988 draft. [1] June 25, 1993, Mug moved to the Dallas Stars in exchange for goalkeeper John Casey . This exchange was part of the deal to transfer defender Gord Murphy from Boston to Dallas [2] , which took place on June 20 of the same year. On July 17, 1997, Andy Mug moved to Montreal Canadiens as a free agent. [2]
Coaching career
From 2000 to 2002, Andy Mug was a consultant to the Vancouver Canucks Club. In 2002, Mug became assistant coach and goalkeeper coach at the Dallas Stars . On June 15, 2006, Dallas General Manager Doug Armstrong announced the appointment of Mug as his assistant, responsible for the development of young players. Mug also retained his position as a club goalkeeper coach [3] .
In 1998, Mug became the owner of the Fort Worth Bramas club from the Western Professional Hockey League. In 2001, the club began playing in the Central Hockey League . October 12, 2012 "Bramas" were sold to a businessman from Fort Worth, Mike Atkinson [4] .
