Biography
Born July 17 ( July 29 in a new style) in 1896 in Terioki of the Principality of Finland [2] in the family of a sworn attorney.
In 1924 he graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences of Moscow University . A student of academicians D. M. Petrushevsky and N. M. Lukin . He taught at the labor faculty of the Communist University. Y. M. Sverdlova . He was an employee of the Marx-Engels-Lenin Institute in 1930-1931. In 1934-1937 - teacher, associate professor of the history department of Moscow State University [3] .
Candidate of Historical Sciences since 1938. In 1938-1941, Kahn worked at the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. V.I. Lenin (MGPI), where he was the head of the department of modern and recent history. In 1940 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the theme “Two uprisings of Silesian weavers - 1793 and 1844”. Professor of Moscow State Pedagogical Institute since 1940.
In 1944-1952, he was a senior research fellow at the Institute of History of the USSR Academy of Sciences . In parallel, he continued his teaching activities at Moscow University (1946-1947), the Higher Diplomatic School (1946-1949) and at the Pedagogical Institute. V.P. Potemkin (1955-1959).
He lived in Moscow on Mytnaya street, 23 and in Starokonyushenny lane, 43.
He died on March 7, 1960 in Moscow. An urn with ashes was buried in the columbarium of the Don cemetery .
Son Alexander (1925-2017) is a Scandinavian historian [4] .
