Hozonykh

Khozonikh is the legendary descendant of Lekos , the progenitor of all Dagestanis [1] .

According to Leonti Mroveli, Hozonih was the most notable of the Lekan clan. He "... went into the mountain gorge, erected a city there and gave him his name - Khozonikheti" or Khunzakh [2] . Since then, the Caucasian peoples have been tributaries of the Khazars for a long time [3] . It was suggested that in this story, Mroveli tried to reflect the fact that some of the captives captured by the North Caucasians during their periodic raids to the south, eventually integrated into the Khazar, Alan and Dagestan-Hun associations [4] .

The annals indicate that the ancestor of Hozonikh belonged to a large territory before the Khazar conquest: "... the Khazar king gave his cousin the inheritance of Lekan from the Daruband Sea in the east to the Lomeka River" [3] .
