The 1st World Luge Championship was held from February 5 to 6, 1955 on the luge and bobsleigh track in Oslo ( Norway ) under the auspices of the International Bobsleigh and Toboggan Federation - FIBT (Fr. FΓ©dΓ©ration Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing, FIBT). It was the only FIBT world championship to form the International Luge Federation (FIL), which was founded in 1957 .
