The Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces ( Hebrew אגף המבצעים ) is one of the structural units of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

In the past it was called the “ General Directorate of the General Staff ”.
The Operations Directorate is responsible for the planning and implementation of Israel Defense Forces operations through the AOI command centers, the headquarters of the Air Force, the command of the naval forces and ground forces, as well as through other departments of the General Staff.
Currently, the operational management is headed by Major General ( Aluf ) Nitzan Alon .

History
Operational management was created at the end of 1947, instead of the "planning department" and "operations department" that existed in the Hagan organization. On November 16, 1947, Yigal Yadin was appointed the first chief of the operational department, who was engaged in the initial formation of the department. The department consisted of five departments: the general department of strategic planning, the department of operational management (design of current operations), the intelligence department, the technical department, and the administration and coordination department with other departments.
