Biography
Born in 1907 in the Netherlands East Indies , where his father was engaged in the import of medicines. In 1915, the family moved to the metropolis and settled in Hilversum, but a few years later moved to the United States. In 1932, Adrianus and his younger brother Johannes took part in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles , but in the 2-seater class "Star" became only 6, while in the 1-seater class "Snowbird" Adranius won a silver medal . In 1936, Adrianus took part in the Olympic Games in Berlin in his favorite Star class, and won a bronze medal.
After World War II, he began importing American cars into Utrecht . In 1948 he took part in the Olympic Games in London , where he again won the bronze medal. In 1952, he participated in the Olympic Games in Helsinki , but there he became only the 8th.
Adrianus Mas's favorite class of yachts was Star, but he took part in specialized competitions for this class mainly when they were in the USA. In 2009, the Netherlands Sailing Federation established an annual Star Class yacht competition called the Bob Maas Trofee.
