"Ghosttown" is the second single of the American singer Madonna from the thirteenth studio album Rebel Heart (2015). The single was released as a radio release on March 15, 2015 . The song was written by Madonna, Jason Evigan, Evan Bogart and Sean Douglas, and produced by Madonna and Billboard. Madonna liked the previous work of Douglas, and she rented a studio for joint sessions with him and other co-authors. "Ghosttown" was written in three days. This pop ballad is inspired by the image of a ruined city after the end of Armageddon and how survivors try to continue their existence.

The musical accompaniment of the track mainly consists of organ and percussion, Madonna’s voice is slightly changed by vocoder . The track was released on iTunes in December 2014 along with the other 5 songs in response to a hacker hack and leak of more than 40 songs from the yet unreleased Rebel Heart album. The song received positive reviews from critics who emphasized Madonna’s vocals and lyrics, as well as producing Billboard. The ballad caused a comparison with the early works of the singer.
The single was for the singer a record number 45 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart [1] . The song also topped the list of the best songs of 2015 according to readers of Rolling Stone magazine [2] .

Music video
The director of the new video clip was Swedes Yunas Okerlund , who had previously shot clips from Madonna's songs for American Life , Music and Ray of Light . The guest actor was American actor Terrence Howard .
The video takes place in a city empty after a nuclear explosion, where several survivors still continue to exist. In this video, the singer is dressed in a long black coat designer Chrome Hearts. The coat is covered with crosses, which very well conveys the atmosphere of that “ghost town”.
The release of the music video on YouTube took place on April 8, 2015 .
