History

Andernach is one of the oldest cities in modern Germany.

People have lived on the site of the present Andernach since time immemorial. In the VI century BC e. the Celts built their fortified settlement here. The official date of foundation of the city is 12 years BC. e. , in 1988, the city celebrated the 2000th anniversary of the city.
