Germany participated in the 1984 Eurovision Song Contest in Luxembourg . At the competition, she was represented by Mary Roos with the song “Rücksicht”, performing at number 14. This year the country took 13th place, receiving 34 points. The commentator for the competition from Germany this year was Ado Schler, the herald was Kerstin Schweigofer.

National Selection

National selection took place in Munich . Randomly selected 500 people voted for the song they liked. Each of them could give points from 1 to 12 for each song, depending on preference ^[1] .
