Club career
In adult football he made his debut in 1968 with appearances for the Groningen club team, in which he spent seven seasons, took part in 157 championship matches and scored 14 goals. Most of the time spent with Groningen was a defense player on the main team.
His game for this team attracted the attention of the representatives of the coaching staff of the AZ club, which he joined in 1975. He played for the team from Alkmaar for the next eight seasons of his playing career. Playing as a member of the club, AZ also mainly entered the field as the main team.
He completed his professional playing career in the lower league club Wacker ( Innsbruck ), for whose team he played for 1983-1984.
