Ivchenkov, Victor Ivanovich

Viktor Ivanovich Ivchenkov (b. 06.28.1962, the village of Khodynichi, Kobrinsky district ) is a Belarusian linguist and journalist. Head of the Department of Stylistics and Literary Editing, Faculty of Journalism, Belarusian State University . Doctor of Philology (2004), Professor (2005).

Scientific activity

He graduated from Brest State University named after A. Pushkin (Faculty of Philology, specialty "Russian Language and Literature", 1985), Institute of Linguistics named after J. Kolas, Academy of Sciences of the BSSR (graduate school, 1988). He improved his qualifications abroad: in the USA (1995), Poland (1999), Sweden (2002, 2007, 2009), France (2003).

Since 1989, he has been working at BSU, and began his career as an assistant professor. In 1996, he became head of the department of stylistics and literary editing at the BSU Institute of Journalism. Member of the Belarusian Union of Journalists since 1994. Engaged in the study of the stylistics of the Belarusian and Russian languages, he devoted the monograph to the study of the styles of Vladimir Korotkevich and Russian writer Yuri Kazakov. Scientific interests: linguistics of a journalistic text; media discourse analysis; stylistics; spelling.

He founded a scientific school of media discourse analysis in Belarus. His work “Discourse of the Belarusian media. Organization of a journalistic text ” [1] gave a start to the formation of a new direction in linguistics and journalism - linguistics of a journalistic text. He published in the press more than 200 materials on the problems of education, science and upbringing. Since 1990, articles on spelling (“Red Shift”, “Star”, “Narodnaya Gazeta”, “SB. Belarus Today”, “Literature and Art”, “Native Word”, “ Belarusian language and literature ”,“ Primary school ”,“ Snowdrop ”, etc.). One of the main developers of the draft new edition of the “ Rules of Belarusian Spelling and Punctuation ” (2006-2008). The author of more than 380 scientific and methodological works.
