Designed to solve, together with other types of armed forces, tasks to ensure the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the state, to repel possible enemy aggression.
History
At the beginning of the 1990s, Hungary had 1,345 main tanks , 1,720 infantry fighting vehicles (BMPs) and armored personnel carriers (armored personnel carriers), mainly of Soviet production.
In 1999, the country joined NATO and began to switch to new standards in the field of armaments and organization of the army, while retaining the same Soviet equipment in service, reducing its number [2] .
Composition
Ground forces include: military command and control bodies, 5th and 25th infantry brigades (total: 4 infantry, 1 tank and 1 light / reconnaissance battalions), 43rd communications and command support regiment, 64th rear regiment, 37- 1st engineering regiment / battalion, 34th battalion of special operations, 93rd battalion of the RCBZ [1] [2] .
