The species is common in the Philippines, the Great Barrier Reef and Seychelles (in the western Indian Ocean).
It lives at a depth of 18 to 75.4 m, with a water temperature of 23.3 to 28.3 ° C and a salinity of 34.1–35.5 ‰ [2] .
