Biography
Early years
He was born in a large family of a railway employee who adhered to strict Lutheran customs . By origin - Baltic German .
After graduating from a gymnasium in Reval in 1884, he entered the University of Derpt at the medical faculty [1] , but after one semester he transferred to the eastern faculty of the Imperial St. Petersburg University , which he graduated in 1890 with a degree in Eastern languages. The student of the prominent Mongolian Alexei Pozdneev , the theme of the thesis: "Historical description of the Sayn-Noion aimak Khalkha " [2] .
Scientific activity
As part of his thesis, Zire translated chapters 69 to 75 of the Ildkhel Shastir Code (“Track record”), the genealogy of Turkestan and Khalkh feudal lords, identified the geographic boundaries of the Sayn-Noyon aimak and compiled a pedigree table of its owners.
Since January 1891, Eugene Zire began working as an assistant librarian at the university library and a research fellow at the Asian Museum [3] . In March 1891, compiled a "List of Mongolian and Kalmyk books and manuscripts in the Asian Museum of the Academy of Sciences for their chronological entry into the library of the Asian Museum" (better known as the "Zere catalog") [4] .
In March 1892 he entered the service of the Ministry of Finance , thereby ending his career as a scientist.
Family
He was married twice, had a son and four daughters.
