Biography
Pre-war years
In 1934 he graduated from the Far Eastern University in Vladivostok .
He worked in Vladivostok (1931-1934, 1937-1939) and Kazan universities. In 1937 he graduated from graduate school with academician M.A. Leontovich at Moscow State University and defended his thesis, one of his opponents was academician L.D. Landau .
Years of World War II
From the beginning to the end of World War II he served in the Soviet Army . Participated in hostilities on the South-Western Front as a clerk-translator of the regiment headquarters. He was in the ranks of the anti-fascist underground movement in Ukraine . Has a partisan ticket in Ukraine. He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and medals " For Military Merit ", " For Victory over Germany " and other medals.
Post-war years
In 1948, he began working at Perm University . In 1949, he created the Department of Theoretical Physics, which he was in charge of until 1989.
1956-1960 - the last dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Perm University .
1960-1961 - creator and first dean of the Faculty of Physics, Perm University [1] .
Scientific activity
Research into the theory of magnetic resonance and relaxation brought fame to I. G. Shaposhnikov.
The first works on magnetic (spin) relaxation were published by I. G. Shaposhnikov in 1947-1948. His developments took into account relaxation processes that occur not only inside the spin system, but also between the spin system and the lattice. The phenomena of magnetic relaxation and resonance themselves were then recently discovered and Shaposhnikov's theory was very relevant. Later, I.G. Shaposhnikov et al. Constructed microscopic theories that made it possible to obtain the dependence of phenomenological parameters on the field and temperature.
At Perm University, he performed a number of classical studies on the nonequilibrium thermodynamics of spin systems of paramagnets. He constructed the general phenomenological theory of paramagnetic resonance and relaxation phenomena, which includes the Bloch theory as a special case. These works formed the basis of his doctoral dissertation (1951).
On his initiative as a professor at PSU, experimental studies in the field of spectroscopy began . In 1959, a research laboratory of radio spectroscopy was created (since 1964 - a problem laboratory of spectroscopy).
Among his students are 10 doctors and a large number of candidates of sciences. The scientific school he created received both all-Russian and international recognition. Of the more than thirty graduate students of I. G. Shaposhnikov, six subsequently defended doctoral dissertations.
He was the editor of the collection of scientific papers “Radiospectroscopy” published at Perm University since 1962 [1] , which in 1974 received the status of interuniversity (in total 21 issues of the collection have been published to date).
I. G. Shaposhnikov acted as the initiator of the creation at the PSU of a dissertation council on physical and mathematical sciences; he acted as a confidant of V.V. Malanin in 1987 at the first election of the university rector.
From 1979 to 1985 he was the only representative of the USSR on the International Committee for Nuclear Quadrupole Spectroscopy , and in 1974 he was elected to the International Ampere Society. He was awarded the title " Honored Worker of Science of the RSFSR " and "Honored Soros Professor ".
With the participation of I. G. Shaposhnikov, the Perm Scientific Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences was created, and the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR was organized on the problem of “Organic Semiconductor Materials”. In 1984, he was included in the list of candidates for corresponding members of the USSR Academy of Sciences [2] .
Selected Scientific
I. G Shaposhnikov has published 100 printed works in domestic and foreign publications.
