Biography
Rza Huseynov was born in 1883 in Baku . First he studied at a madrasah, then at a Russian-Turkic school. From a young age, Rza was interested in various branches of art, and since 1911 he played episodic silent roles in the troupe of the public-educational society Nijat. Three years later, Rza Huseynov began performing on stage as an actor and took the pseudonym "Darabl". For some time, his pseudonym was indicated during the performances and as "Darablinsky" [2] .
Darabl is considered the first Azerbaijani parody actor. He played in dramas, comedies, tragedies, operas and operettas in the troupes of the Nijat and Safa societies, and the “directorate of the Hajibey Brothers troupe”. He played the role of Mastawar in the opera of Uzeyir Hajibeyov “ Shah Abbas and Khurshid Banu ” [2] .
Since 1919, Darabl was one of the leading actors of the Government Theater (now the Azerbaijan State Drama Theater ). The main roles that Darably played until 1919 were the roles of Vali, Ambala (“ Arshin Mal Alan ”, “ Not That, So This ” by Uzeyir Hajibeyov ), Kajar , Gamza bey, Iblis (“Aga Muhammad Shah Kajar”, “The Ruined Nest” , “Peri Dzhau” by Abdurragim bey Akhverdiyev ), Mashadi Oruj and Sheikh Nasrullah (“Dead” Jalil Mammadkulizade ), Shamdan-bek, Shah Tahmasp (“Woe from the tongue”, “Nadir Shah” by Nariman Narimanov ) and other images [2] .
From 1925 to 1928 he studied at the Central College of Theater Arts in Moscow , after which he returned to the theater team. On the stage of the Government Theater, Darably played such roles as Anvar-bek, Belokurov, Yanardag, Ibad (Ulduz or Trablis War, Yashar, The Bride of Fire, Almaz Jafar Jabbarly), Ibn Yamin, Iblis , Sheikh Sanan , Prince (“ Iblis ”, “ Sheikh Sanan ” and “ Prince ” by Huseyn Javid ), Alimardan (“Love and Revenge” by Suleiman Sani Akhundov ), Arsini (“The Secret of the Nelskaya Tower” by Alexander Dumas ), etc. One of Darably’s famous roles in this time was the role of Sultan-bek in the operetta “Arshin mal Alan” by Uzeyir Hajibeyov [2] .
Rza Darably was the first actor to play the role of Prince in the play of the same name by Huseyn Javid . Speaking approvingly of his game, critics of the time emphasized that he managed to create an interesting negative image. This was all the more important because before Darably, although he played in characteristic roles, he was still known primarily as a comedian [1] .
Engaged mainly in acting, and in certain years, as a director, Rza Darably was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR in 1933 [2] .
The last role of Rza Darabla in the theater was the role of Antonio played by him on October 24, 1940 in the comedy of Pierre Beaumarchais “ The Wedding of Figaro ”. Along with the theater, Darably taught at the Baku Theater School and starred in films such as "Peasants" ( 1939 ), "Sabuhi" ( 1941 ) [2] .
Rza Darably died on March 23, 1942 in Baku [2] .
