Biography

Born in 1882 in Antwerp ( Belgium ), but grew up in The Hague , in 1908 he received Dutch citizenship. In 1920, he took part in the Olympic Games in Antwerp , where he became a sprint champion; in the same year he became a world amateur champion. At the World Championships in 1922, won the silver medal. In 1924, at the Olympic Games in Paris, he won a bronze medal in tandem (with Gerard van Drakestein ).
