Hwalfedl ( Isl. Hvalfell ) is a mountain of volcanic origin in the west of Iceland near the Hwalfjord . Located in the east of the municipality of Hvalfjarðarsveit. Translated from the Icelandic Hvalfell means whale mountain .

The Hwalfeld is located east of the Hwalfjord in the Bottsdalur Valley. To the south-east of Hvalfädel is the extinct volcano Botnssulür. To the east of the volcano is Lake Hwalvatn , the source of the Botnsau River , which flows into the Hwalfjord. On the Botnsau River is Iceland's highest waterfall, Glimur .
Halvagel is an extinct volcano-tuyu, formed in the last ice age. Like most of these volcanoes, it has steep slopes.
