History
Checkers is an ancient intellectual game spread all over the world and has more than 3,500 years of history.
Various variants of drafts on a traditional, 64-cell board are presented practically in all countries of the world, but until recently they did not have their own international organization representing the interests of drafts on a 64-cell board and engaged in their development at the international level.
For the development of drafts on the 64-cell board in the world, since 1992, the World Railways Federation FMJD has operated Section-64. In 2002, after joining FMJD Chekkers , Section-64 was engaged in the development of Russian and Brazilian drafts. In the course of its activities for the full functioning, successful solution of organizational and financial issues, there is a need to obtain legal status.
The Executive Committee of Section 64 of the FMJD, the Russian and Moldavian Federation of Chess Federation initiated the creation of the International Drafts Federation to unite and fully develop various types of drafts on a 64-cell board in the world, protecting their interests in various international organizations.
The founding conference was held on July 12, 2012 in Balchik, Bulgaria, during the World Drafts-64 Championship among boys and girls.
The founders of the International Drafts Federation were the Drafts Federation of Bulgaria, Moldova, Russia and Uzbekistan.
Vladimir Olegovich Langin (St. Petersburg, Russia) was elected President of the International Drafts Federation.
The International Drafts Federation is officially registered in Bulgaria on June 5, 2013.
Until October 11, 2015, the International Drafts Federation was a legal entity of Section-64 of FMJD according to the decision of the General Assembly of Section-64 of FMJD, which was held on September 14, 2012, in Yevpatoria, Ukraine.
After the General Assembly of FMJD, held on October 11, 2015 in Izmir, Turkey, Section 64, FMJD, represented by the International Drafts Federation, withdrew from FMJD and continued its work as an independent organization under the brand of the International Drafts Federation.
