The 36th World Weightlifting Championship was held from September 20 to September 25, 1961 in Vienna ( Austria ). It was attended by 120 athletes from 33 countries. Athletes were divided into 7 weight categories and competed in eventing ( bench press , jerk and push ). As part of this World Cup, the 41st European Championship was held.
