Biography
Born in 1881 in Zwoll . In 1906, as part of the Netherlands national team, he participated in the Athens Olympic Games not recognized by the IOC . In 1908 he took part in the Olympic Games in London , but did not win medals. In 1912 he participated in the Olympic Games in Stockholm , where he won bronze medals in the team championships on swords and sabers.
In 1920, he took part in the Olympic Games in Antwerp , where he won a bronze medal in the saber team championship. In 1924 he participated in the Olympic Games in Paris , but did not win any awards.
As the head of the naval sports school, Van Bleienbürg had a great influence on the teaching of physical education in the Netherlands. He wrote a number of books on gymnastics and physical education, and became the first Dutchman to receive a degree in physical education.
