Sergienko, Ivan Vasilievich (scientist)

Born on August 13, 1936 in the village of Belotserkovtsy, Kharkov region (now the Poltava region). In 1959 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Taras Shevchenko Kiev State University with a degree in Computational Mathematics ^[1] .

In 1964 he defended his PhD, and in 1972 - his doctoral dissertation, specializing in the theoretical foundations of mathematics and cybernetics ^[1] . In the same year, Ivan Vasilievich became a professor at the Department of Computational Mathematics of Kiev State University, and later - the head of its branch at the Institute of Cybernetics.

In 1978, he became a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR , and since 1988, an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR with a degree in computational mathematics ^[2] . From 1995 to 2009 - academician-secretary of the Department of Informatics and a member of the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine. Since 2009, he has been an adviser to the Presidium ^[2] .

The supervisors of I.V. Sergienko were V. M. Glushkov , A. A. Dorodnitsin , V. S. Mikhalevich and E. L. Yushchenko .

From 1995 to 2008, he headed the Department of Theoretical Cybernetics and Methods of Optimal Control of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology , and since 2008 he headed this department at the Physicotechnical Educational and Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since 2002 - the head of the branch of the department of automated information processing and management systems of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kiev Polytechnic Institute” . These departments work as basic directly at the Institute of Cybernetics.

From 1982 to 1994 - Deputy Director, and since 1995 - Director of the V. M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and General Director of the Cybernetic Center ^[1] .

Sergienko is engaged in the creation and research of models and methods of mathematical (in particular, discrete ) optimization, the solution of pressing problems of computational and applied mathematics, the development of programming theory and the creation of computer-based intelligent technologies for solving problems, in particular trans-computational complexity , the automation of data processing and analysis mathematical methods, the creation of the theory of algorithms and calculations , including parallel ones .

The author of more than 700 scientific papers (including 40 monographs), prepared 22 doctors and 60 candidates of sciences.

Under the scientific supervision of I.V. Sergienko, in 2004-2005, the SKIT family of supercomputers was developed at the Institute of Cybernetics.

I.V.Sergienko - President of the Ukrainian Federation of Informatics (UFI) and chairman of the National Committee of Ukraine on Informatics. Honorary Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Higher School of Ukraine ^[3] .

Chairman of the Scientific Councils of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine “Intelligent Information Technologies” and “Cybernetics”, editor-in-chief of the international scientific journal “Cybernetics and Systems Analysis” and the journal “Computer Mathematics”.

I.V. Sergienko is a member of a number of international organizations coordinating activities in the field of computer science in various countries of the world. Member of the American Mathematical Society , foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences ^[4] .

Honorary Professor of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology , , holds an honorary doctorate from T. Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy National University , Dnipropetrovsk National University , Zaporizhzhya National Technical University , Volyn National University named after . Lesia Ukrainka , Uzhgorod National University , Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics and Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy .
